101 reasons to visit Romagne (3)

Even after one hundred years it’s not difficult to find reminders of the Great War when you visit the Western front. Bullets, shrapnel, pieces of glass, you name it. To the French, the battlefields are sacred ground. Taking war relics home is not appreciated. They consider it disrespectful. I can’t blame them for it. But it can also be quite dangerous. When a grenade lies in a forest for more than a century it becomes very unstable. So take my advice: leave the debris alone and just take a picture. It also takes up less space in your luggage!
